Bali On A Budget

This is how you can have your perfect Indonesian vacation, without having to make a hole in your wallet or to max out your credit card.

Bali is an all-time tourists’ favorites. Even though it may seem sometimes overcrowded and the internet is packed with fancy photos from expensive restaurants or resorts, Bali is one of the cheapest destinations.

If you know where to look or how to play the budgeting game, Bali is a winner amongst other popular spots.

The Island of Gods is beautiful, impressive and somehow magical. The best memories will be made exploring it, trying it and feeling local.

These are our top points to check, if you want to have a perfect vacation, without going bankrupt.

How to get there?

There are two options: the first one is a direct flight to Denpasar and the second one is to have a layover in Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia. In our opinion, if you care about the budget, just take the cheap alternative. Always search for flights in incognito mode, use a VPN and search on multiple platforms. For cheaper flights, we recommend to visit Bali at the beginning or at the end of the rainy season. It is the best time to visit, as it is not raining non-stop, some days can be also rain free, the crowds start to disappear and the offers to appear.

Where to stay in Bali?

Everywhere you decide to stay on this island, will have its own charm and fun. For a budget friendly alternative, we recommend hotel villas, guest houses and if you are a larger group, you can even rent a whole house in Bali.

You can easily find hotels and villas, with good reviews and incredible services, starting at just 20$ a night. From 20-40$ dollars a night, for two persons with breakfast, the options are incredible.

Even the instagrammable jungle resorts can be very accessible. Staying in a private villa, having your own pool, enjoying amazing 5 stars amenities, all inside a resort, for as little as 100$ a night, for two persons and also an incredible breakfast included in the price, it is a bargain. So, if you really want to feel fancy, dreams may come true in Bali.

Transportation

In Bali it is very easy to get around. Taxis are the most expensive ways to discover this island. The cheapest option is to rent a scooter, if you have all the necessary documents and skills, for as little as 5$/day. Another option is to use Grab or Gojek. Those apps function exactly like Uber or Bolt, but besides ordering a car, you can also order a scooter. The third and most convenient option, to discover Bali, if you have a limited time to spend on the island, is to ask a driver for a day tour. The prices will range from 40$ to 60$/ tour, depending on the distance and duration. This price is not per person, but per car.

Eating

Grabbing something to eat in Bali is quite cheap. Even western food is at least half the price, we are used to pay for at home. Even though it is cheap, the best budget friendly option is to eat Balinese food, at a Warung. A regular, delicious meal will cost from 2 to 5 dollars per person.

Bali is also a fruit paradise, so enjoying a natural load of vitamins is not expensive at all. Usually, a fresh fruit juice will cost about 2 dollars.

Having fun in Bali

Besides taking tours, eating and sunbathing, in Bali you can also have loads of fun. You can have the fun of your life, rafting in Sidemen for as little as 25 to 30$ per person. If you love water and water sports, you can go to Tanjung Benoa and enjoy a full day of fun, with activities such as: scuba diving, parasailing, riding the waves with a jet ski, struggling to stand on a doughnut or even flying above water on the flyfish, for 50$ per person (all the above included).

Balinese have an amazing cuisine and you can learn how to cook like them. But it is not just about learning, you will also go to a local market, pick your own vegetables and then cook your perfect Balinese meal. All of this, at the incredible price of 35$ per person.

If you visit Bali with family, especially little kids, you can enjoy an amazing day at one of the biggest waterparks. Waterbom, located in Kuta, is a super fun experience for both adults and kids. A full day at the park, will cost you around 25$ per person.
