Dubai is where the new took over the old, but let him co-exist.
It is all about the people, so many and so different. Here is where you find persons from all over the world enjoying the biggest party. This is how I imagine living your life in Dubai, like the biggest party where everybody is invited.
The city is also every architect’s dream.
Almost everything here is new and shinny and each building is designed to be more spectacular than others. They have the biggest “everything” when it comes to constructions. The iconic Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Mall are just some examples.
If you want to explore Dubai to its roots, you will have to spend several days, but for those who have a limited time and budget, here it’s:

Burj Khalifa
With a height of 828m, it still is the tallest building in the world. Its construction began in 2004 and was opened in 2010.
You can enter and visit the tower’s 124th, 125th and 148th floors. The 125th and 148th floors have observation decks that are at 456, respectively 555 m height.
If you go to the observation deck at 125th floor, you will notice that it has an Arabic design and it offers you 360-degree views of the city.
There are also other fun things to do and experiment there, but I don’t want to ruin your fun.
Miracle Garden
Guinness named it “world’s biggest natural flower garden”, with over 72000 sqm occupied. It is impressive to see such a beautiful and big garden, surrounded by the Arabic Desert. Here you can find more than 250 million plants and different structures.
Dubai Aquarium
This is a must see. The aquarium is located in the mall, most important it is also reachable from Burj Khalifa, and hosts over 300 species of marine animals. Here you can find an underwater tunnel, that gives you the impression of being part of the underwater world.
It is the world’s largest suspended aquarium and you will find an impressive 10 million liters tank, that host 400 sharks. If you are courageous enough, you can even dive with the sharks.
Atlantis Dubai
Not just a hotel, but a an emblematic one and also the host of a gigantic aquapark. I’m not saying to book a room here, because it will for sure make a big hole in your pocket, especially if you want to stay in one of their iconic underwater suites.
You can enjoy a day (or two if you are lucky enough to catch a promo offer) at the Atlantis Aquapark. They have so many waterslides and pools that it is impossible to keep the count of. Here is also a very big aquarium that can be visited and again you can swim with the sharks.
If you love sharks that much, then you will be happy to find out that here is located a waterslide that goes directly through the shark and manta ray tank.
Dubai Desert
It is not Sahara, instead you have the chance to explore the Arabian Desert. You can book from local tour agencies a one-day trip to the desert.
The trip will include Desert Safari or Dune Bashing, a once in a lifetime experience when you climb over the gigantic dunes in a big 4×4 SUV. You can choose to have dinner and enjoy a show, while the sun is setting down.
Dubai Mall
Not so many words are good enough to describe it.
Maybe if I say that it is shoppers’ paradise, it will make a point. At the moment it opened, it was the biggest mall in the world. You will find shops, aquarium, zoo, cinema, fountains, restaurants and everything you dream of. This is the place where you really find everything.
The Creek
It is a natural saltwater creek, therefore is traditionally used as a port for trade and transport. You can cross the creek, from one side to another, with an abra (a traditional wooden boat).
The best way to enjoy it, is by choosing to go on a cruise at sunset. Dhow cruises include dinner and show and are a great way to spend the evening in Dubai.
Dubai Gold and Spice Souk
The Turkish have their bazars, the Emiratis have their Souks. It is the Dubai version of the bazar. Here you can find all the spices you need and think of. The Spice Souk is the first that you will see when you get in the area. For sure that you will be driven by the huge number of different smells. When you go further into the Souk, the Gold area will start. This is every woman’s paradise. The amount of jewelry displayed will take your breath away.
Dubai Frame
Another emblematic building of Dubai, made to keep an iconic view of the city beneath its frame. It can be visited alongside the park surrounding it. The views are iconic, but beware of the crowds inside. So, choose your visiting hours wisely.
Al Fahidi Fort Museum
This is not probably on everyone’s must see list. At the museum you will not find the glamour of the city. Here you will find the history of the city and the Emirati people. The museum presents perfectly their traditions, their old architecture and much more. For history and culture enthusiasts this is a must see, for sure you will not regret it.
Most importantly, we have been talking about a big city that has so many tourists’ hot spots. This was roughly just an introduction for the enormous list of things to do in this amazing city. Everything about Dubai is big, impressive and a world record breaker.
