All you need to know about Punta Cana

Punta Cana, Dominican’s Republic most known region. It is the second most popular tourist destination in Latin America and the most popular in the Caribbean countries.

The easternmost tip of the Dominican Republic, has the benefit of perfect beaches. Here is where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Caribbean Sea. It was the perfect spot for resorts hotels to be built and tourism to explode.

The Punta Cana airport greets more visitors than the capital city airport, Las Americas. In Punta Cana you will see more tourists and expats, than locals. The expat community is strong and very divers. At the beginning it was a perfect retirement destination for U.S. Citizens, but now people from all over the world come to relocate here.

Tourism is at its peak here and mostly the main job for everybody. For those interested in a future trip to Punta Cana, here is what you need to know:

Hotels, Apartments or Villas

There are so many options made for everybody’s taste and budget. Besides resorts, there are also a plentitude of hotels to choose from. Most of them are located near the beach, or at a walking distance. If the normal hotel idea interests you, one important thing to keep in mind is that you need to book it 2-3 months before. The last-minute idea is not very good. The best price-quality hotels are sold out very fast and it is a big fight for them.

Apartments are considered to be the next hotels. I am talking about apartments in condominiums, that have contracts with the restaurants located inside the property, to provide breakfast. There are some incredible residential complexes that are located beach front, have breakfast option, pool and even their private beach. The price for some amazing apartments is quite affordable and is a great idea if you want to enjoy a perfect holiday and also explore.

For someone who desires to live the Caribbean dream and also enjoy some privacy, the perfect stay is at a villa. There are some incredible villas for short term rent. Their price depends of the size, proximity to the beach, amenities and level of luxury. For some mid-range properties, if you don’t go alone and bring some friends with you, the approximate cost will be as much as a regular hotel.

The Resorts in Punta Cana

Personally, the best option. If you want to go just to relax, sun bath and swim, the resorts are the perfect match. This will define the time spent there, as a personal care time. There will be nothing to worry about. Just relax and indulge in what the place has to offer.

In the Punta Cana area are a lot of resort hotels to choose from. They vary from mid-range 4 starts to the most exclusive 5 stars resorts. All you have to plan is your budget. My personal advice is that you should take your time, study what each one has to offer, know what type of all inclusive resort you need and wait for the offers. Have a specific budget, but don’t go like “this is the price right now, I will compromise”. That means that is better to wait. Going on holiday is about spending quality time and having the best time, not to compromise. https://traveliciousduo.com/how-to-choose-an-all-inclusive-resort/

The activities in Punta Cana

Most of the activities here, are beach and water related. Snorkeling, scuba diving, swimming with the dolphins, all water sports and even party boats, are very frequent and with competitive prices. There are plenty to choose from and to make a program accordingly.

Other options are to explore. Visiting two small islands, belonging to Dominican Republic, Isla Saona and Isla Catalina, are a must if you plan on spending time in this country. Both islands are incredibly beautiful and are surrounded by the perfect turquoise water of the Caribbean Sea.

The capital city of the Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo, is a city that is worth of visiting. The colonial part and The Three Eyes National Park are included in almost every tour. I would recommend to spend a few days in Santo Domingo, but if it not possible, a day tour sound perfect.

Our Experience

We had a great time in Punta Cana. Our hotel choice was Ocean El Faro, in Uvero Alto. The total experience was amazing and I would recommend this hotel.

For the activities, we preferred to do them from different locations and all the time spent at the resort to be for relaxation purposes. As another suggestion, learn some Spanish. Sometimes, it was a bit difficult to understand each other in English, so we had to use our Spanish or Italian knowledge.

Punta Cana is a huge travel destination with national importance and we consider it very…                                                                                                                                                                            Travelicious.
