Dubai in September

A good idea?

Was Dubai in September a good idea?

Dubai in September is hot, but not that much as it is in summer months. It is a personal preference if you want to handle the oven, just for the cheap prices.

The city has a lot of things to offer and I am sure that it is in everyone’s travel agenda.

This post was written, to share our personal experience in Dubai in the month of September, and to clarify the confusing info that is displayed on web browsers.

The marketing issues

It all started when we saw an ad, from one of the hotel groups we are members, saying that the hotel prices in Dubai had dropped. Of course, we were super excited and started planning the trip.

As always, we did our research online, checked the weather and everything seemed perfect. Also, some friends went to Dubai in September, a year before.

If you search “Dubai in September”, you will find a lot of these:

Dubai in September is a good idea, if you want to save money

The airline prices will drop, as well as the hotel prices. A lot of hotels have availability and it is a good opportunity to finally stay at one of the best hotels, for a very small price.

The costs: 2 return tickets with checked baggage – 420$; 10 nights at 5 stars hotel, with good reviews, great location and where a lot of celebrities come to spend some time – 500$; rented car for 10 days – 170$.

The Hotel

The Hotel was great. At this price we didn’t have the cheapest room, we opted for a King Deluxe room. It was one of the most elegant and beautiful rooms we have ever stayed in. In the hotel the aircon was at max, that sometimes it felt a little chilly.

The biggest problem that we had, was the parking lot.

As we had our rented car, we also needed parking space. It was not a parking space issue; it was an underground parking problem. In general, this shouldn’t be, but in Dubai it is.

Just imagine putting fuel in your hot oven. This is exactly what we felt. The air was so hot and barely breathable, the sweat is instant when you get from the hotel lobby with perfect temperature to the hot business that was the parking lot.

Every time we needed our car, we did as the locals taught us: go start the car, set the aircon to the lowest temperature and the fan to max, close all windows and return for 10 minutes to the lobby.

Dubai in September is not for walking

If you imagine, walking and doing some sightseeing in Dubai in September, please forget about that.

As being a skyscraper paradise, it is also a concrete jungle. The all-glass buildings, the concrete and the over 45 Celsius degrees, makes it unbearable.

We had to walk for 10 minutes, in the middle of the day. Besides being the only ones on the street, it was like a fight for life moment.

The Water

Dubai is famous for beach resorts and clubs and everywhere you can see photos by the beach.

We tried the beach in the afternoon, and even at 5 pm, it was to hot to resist. If you want to cool down a little, after your tanning session, it is impossible to do it in the Persian Gulf. The water temperature at shore is hotter than in a hot tub.

You can also have fun

Besides the heat, you can also enjoy a lot of what Dubai has to offer, at special prices.

We chose to spend two days at Atlantis Dubai, to chill, relax and have fun in the massive aquapark.

In the desert, you will not feel the air as hot as in the city. You can enjoy a Desert Safari with dune bashing and late dinner. It was a great and fun experience.

Shopping in Dubai is great, especially in their malls with air con, hundreds of shops and a lot of other activities. Yes, you can even ski in Dubai, in September. You can find Ski Dubai, an indoor ski resort, inside Mall of The Emirates.

Renting a car is a must for this period. You can travel wherever you want, when you want, in the comfort of your car and forget about waiting for bus, metro or even taxi.

Your choice

Dubai is great, whenever you choose to go. It is a city of wanders and even the heat cannot make it an unpleasant experience. Here is where it is easy to adapt and find what suits you for that time. For us it was not comfortable at all in the first days, but as time goes by and while discovering something new every single day, it started to be super fun and a great place to spend some time.

If you care about your budget, Dubai in September is a great idea. This is the season of low prices, but crazy hot weather (average max 48 degrees Celsius – with a real feel of 54; average low 36 degrees Celsius – probably at 5 A.M.). It is something that people will need to put in balance.

This post was not written to discourage people to visit this beautiful city in this time of the year, but for them to take notice and to read something on point. As we did our research for this trip, we encountered mixed opinions, or just that Dubai in September is a great deal.

So, just for the temperature, Dubai in September is not…

But, Dubai as the magnificent city, is so…
