What Happened at Ferrari World?

Dubai is the city of future and the place where you will feel way ahead of our times. It is the definition of modern architecture and modern world. This city has no comparison and it is in a very different league, one of its own.

Visiting Dubai cand feel a little bit overwhelming, especially if you are there for a very short period of time. You have so many things to do, to see and to experiment. It is one of the few places in the world that you cannot feel bored or you don’t have something to do.

I must admit that one of my biggest dreams was to have the chance to visit Abu Dhabi. So, we have planned two out of ten days, to spend there. Besides being one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen, as well as Dubai, it has so many things to see. Dubai is magic, but for me Abu Dhabi is something special.

Ferrari World Abu Dhabi

If in Dubai we fell in love with Atlantis Aquaventure, we really wanted the Ferrari Experience in Abu Dhabi. If something is extreme, exciting and daring, we must try it.

The distance from Dubai to Abu Dhabi is about 140km and we needed a ride. After a little bit of research, we did find a car that would take us to Ferrari World and bring us back to the hotel. We didn’t want to change cars, search for drivers or start bargaining. I don’t remember the exact price, but I know that this was the best option. It wasn’t a private ride, we were five people, from different parts of Dubai, with the same destination.

The Plan

After our check in at the Ferrari World, we have discovered one or the most organized and huge amusement parks. Everything was spotless and there are so many things to do. Besides the rides, there is also a huge food court, a shopping area and the Galleria Ferrari. There you will see some of the best Ferrari models, that conquered tracks throughout its history.

At the entrance we have received a whole map of the park, with all attractions marked and also listed depending on its difficulty. Seeing something like this, I have immediately started planning the order for our fun rides. From smooth to hard-core, to have time to prepare for the adrenaline rush. The rides were numbered and, in my head, they sounded like that episode from “Friends”, when Monica and Rachel gave Chandler instructions.

The Surprise

We went straight ahead to the first chosen number, ready to have fun and prepared for what was going to happen. I have read the description of the ride and knew what to expect. We planned the first ride to be long, somehow smooth and not extreme. At the entrance it didn’t look like the one in the pictures, but maybe it was a photo from a different angle.

It all was a surprise. From my long and smooth ride, it was like the hell’s gates have opened and tried to catch me. Unknowingly, we have hopped on the: Turbo Track.

It is one of the most daring adventures at Ferrari World. The Turbo Track is the only back-to-back roller-coaster. It will literally shoot you out in the sky, through the roof, with the speed of a Ferrari. At your highest point you will be about 100 meters above the whole complex. But it doesn’t stop here. They will take you back in reverse, with an epic zero gravity fall. It was something unforgettable, for sure. But the whole experience was like: you buy a chocolate cake and when you take the first bite, it turns out to be one of the hottest chilies. I have left the Turbo Track dizzy, white as a cheese, confused, almost fainting and shacking uncontrollable. Probably it was a little bit of a panic attack. After a few minutes, I’ve asked someone if they replaced the roller-coaster that we wanted, with the Turbo Track. When I’ve heard the answer, I wanted to slap myself. We went on the wrong floor! Yes, there are different rides, at different floors and the one that we wanted was a floor down.

Again?

Toma continued to try some other fun adventures and I was still pale. About two hours passed and I was convinced by the lady at the entrance to try another ride. Didn’t think it through and I have accepted, then bravely jumped on my seat and waited for the countdown. The number 2 is my enemy. When it hit 2, I’ve screamed with all my power to stop. I had to escape, my heart was beating too fast and the fainting feeling had returned. My ears were making weird noises and my entire body was shaking.

This was text book panic attack. They were super nice and waited for me to get off and offered water and assistance. After this second moment, even the spinning tea cups looked dangerous and too risky.

Maybe it was the surprise or just that Turbo Track was for another level of adventure seekers. All of them combined changed my opinion about myself. I thought that I was the kind of person that would try everything, but maybe roller-coasters that would catapult you through the roof aren’t made for me. Toma tries everything and enjoys everything. He wasn’t white with shades of green after it, he was smiling and enjoying every second.
